Forklift Jobs

There is a high demand for forklift drivers in the UK as it’s a job that is always needed and operators play a crucial part in the running of depots, deliveries, docks, etc. you will find that some companies will offer to train you if successful in your application but you will find the majority of employers will be looking for candidates who already have their forklift training and their licence.

Wages and salaries vary greatly and could be anywhere from £16,000 to £35,000 per annum, or for more casual work you will earn an hourly wage which will be from around £8 p/h to £13 p/h depending on experience and location.

Career Paths?

If you're a forklift operator or driver then you will usually be in a warehouse environment so typical career paths will be in that industry so you're looking along the lines of:

  • Warehouse Team Leader
  • Stock Controller
  • Warehouse Supervisor
  • Operations Manager

These roles will be less hands-on and be more focussed with logistics and the smooth running of the warehouse/factory.
